LIKE AIRPLANES? LIKE PANCAKES?
JOIN THE EAA FOR BREAKFAST AT HINCKLEY AIRPORT!
DeKalb, IL — There’s a place where anyone who enjoys the world of flight and the allure of airplanes is welcome. It’s your local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the world’s leading organization in providing people opportunities to participate in aviation.
EAA Chapter 241 meetings are held at 7:30PM on the second Monday, preceded by refreshments at 6:30PM at the DeKalbTaylorMunicipalAirport main terminal hangar. Everyone with an aviation interest, pilots and non-pilots alike, are invited to attend.
“EAA Chapters are the local aviation families throughout the nation,” said Rose Ellen May, EAA Chapter 241 secretary. “We welcome anyone who sees something special every time an airplane flies overhead and wants to meet others who share that enthusiasm for the unique experience of flight. We host a number of events throughout the year. Our season winds down with the Hinckley Fall Fly-in. This fly-in – or drive-in — celebrates aviation’s grass roots – a turf runway is perfect for classic planes. Last year we had more than 75 planes arrive throughout the morning…including Piper Cubs, a couple of warbird Texan T-6 planes, and amateur built aircraft like the Wheeler Express. The Fly-In is open to the public – pilots and non-pilots alike. We’ll serve a fantastic pancake breakfast on Sunday, September 16 at the Hinckley Airport (just west of town on Route 30). We have the best pancakes in town; add sausage and eggs, cooked to order, and you have a great breakfast for only $6. All proceeds benefit our Chapter programs: Young Eagle rallies(August 18 at DeKalb airport from 9-10:30AM) and our annual scholarship to a local high school senior.”
EAA has local Chapters around the world, with activities from monthly meetings and airport open houses, to fly-ins and pancake breakfasts that share aviation with the community, building a stronger bond between local aviators and the public. Other EAA Chapter efforts include Young Eagles rallies, which share the world of flight with young people; aircraft building projects; and work parties that help maintain a local flight facility. Most EAA Chapter members are pilots, but non-flying aviation enthusiasts are always welcome.
EAA Chapters are the backbone of the international EAA organization, which has more than 170,000 members. The local organizations include general EAA Chapters as well as specialized chapters for vintage aircraft, warbird, ultralight and aerobatic flight enthusiasts.
